TokenLock 5.13 features

We are working on the features for TokenLock 5.13:

Using the TokenLock built in locking mechanism now adds:

Preview lock screen in settings tab that appears if the built in lock is selected.

Drop in a new background image (Drag and drop onto screen preview in settings)

Change the brightness of the background image.

Turn on or off fading (breathing effect) of the background.

Allow Mac screen to sleep

Allow Mac to sleep

Additional alert settings - allows you to choose the sounds you want for lock, unlock, out of range warning and the "Ping" sound TokenLock makes when it is searching for your device after your Mac wakes up.

If you have "Give me the latest updates, not just major versions." turned on you will receive the Beta versions including these features.

TokenLock 5.11 build posted

This new version adds two more locking types, bringing the number of ways you can lock your mac to four… and one option not to lock at all. This was added mainly for simplicity for users:

Lock using TokenLock

This is the simplest lock, and just throws up a screen with the TokenLock logo and an area where you can enter your password to unlock. (Or bring your device back in range/plug your device back in)

Lock using Display Sleep

Similar to Screen Saver lock, this simply puts the display to sleep.

It also fixes compatibility for 32bit and OSX 10.6 systems.

For first-time users we changed the initial screens to ask whether you want Power or Simplicity and based ont he answer, we preset some things for you.

TokenLock and Keycard

This has been an interesting week. The Mac (and other) news channels were all over a "New and revolutionary" App that locks your Mac when your iPhone is out of bluetooth range. TokenLock has been around literally for years, (before Sept 2010) but apparently wasn't "Discovered" by the reviewers.

Strangely the number of TokenLock downloads also bumped significantly, which isnt a surprise since we have far more functionality at half the price of their "Sale price"

At any rate, if you like TokenLock, please spread the word - a lot of folks are not aware of what we do, apparently.

"Token Lock is a really cool app, I wish I had it seen earlier so that I didn't spend almost 6 Euros for the KeyCard app which does less than 10 Percent of your app."

Don't have TokenLock? Take it for a free spin by clicking here to download the trial.

Here is my original Sep 2010 video talking about TokenLock (then called BleuLock)

iPhone 5 versions of Our software have been submitted!

iPhone 5 has now officially been announced, with little change for us at Map-Pin aside from supporting the newer, longer display.

We have submitted updated versions of all our iOS software, and will wait for Apple to approve the changes.

Approved and on the store so far:

TokenLock 5.0 and beyond to ditch the app store...

Today we uploaded a new build of TokenLock 5.01 - build 6193 - that will now use the Sparkle automatic updater to keep all users on the latest version.

As a result of the new SandBox rules, Apple will not allow us to use the system we need to enter user's passwords and unlock the screen. This essentially breaks TokenLock under the App Store.

From 5.0 onwards, we are jettisoning the Apple App Store and restoring TokenLock back to how it originally was before Apple started making us remove more and more functionality.

If you have bought or in the future buy TokenLock 4.x on the App store, you can simply install a 5.x version and it will detect the fact that you bought and ran a 4.x version on your Mac.

Sorry, Apple - you guys are sucking the life out of us developers with your all-or-nothing rules. For TokenLock, we have no choice but to quit the App Store.

Sandboxing breaks the following TokenLock features:

Unlocking your Mac (Entering passwords)

Detecting which network we are on.

Reading the network list (Safe network option)

Running applications on lock or unlock.

Running shell scripts on lock or unlock.

Checking your screen saver and security options.

Hotkey locking.

TokenLock 5.0.1 Fixes and features coming.

Ability to turn off or on the various types of notifications.

Ability to control the volume of the "ping" sound when you wake the Mac up after sleep and it's checking for your Bluetooth device.

Support for the new Macs with USB 3.0 devices…

You can download this version to fix the issue on this site today.

TokenLock 5.0 Work 2

We have added a bunch of features, to be included in 5.0 which has been submitted to the App Store:

Support for the new Retina MacBook Pros.

Safe Networks - Designate WiFi networks as safe. When your computer is associated to them, TokenLock will not lock your mac.

Notification Center Alerts replace Growl alerts, which means no alerts for OSX versions below 10.8

Monitor two USB devices (Have a designated "backup" device)

Display recent actions in menu bar.

Unlock from sleep/display sleep - When your Mac goes to sleep, or sleeps the display you are required to enter a password. If you have chosen to unlock the screen saver with your bluetooth device, TokenLock allows you to also optionally unlock the sleeping display too.

Use greyscale icons in menu bar instead of color ones is now available, in the General menu.

We also have fixed some bugs where, on a safe network, you could not lock your mac manually using the menu, or remote controls.

Ordered the history of locks and unlocks in the menu so the latest are on top, and added custom entries for locking from hotkey, menu and IR Remote.

This stuff is allavailable for you to test now with the current trial version.

5.0 Bug Fixes:

Displaying the Password dialog box does not disable operation. To avoid menu selection, you can actually remove the menu icon too (See advaced settings on this website)

Fixed issues with running scripts, or apps.

Check out the video here - you can find the latest Beta version for trialing in the "Beta Software" section listed in the menu bar to give it a try now!

Wow, users giving us one star raings because Apple has not released our Mountain Lion compatible versions...

Amazing.

Mountain Lion is in Beta, it is only available to delevopers and Apple just started taking App Submissions for Mountain Lion on July 9th.

With a two-week process for clearing the Apple App Store review process, almost no apps are up yet.

Despite this, we are getting "1 star" reviews from folks who have Mountain Lion installed because some of our apps tell you they've not been tested and released for Mountain Lion, and stop.

As a result we now have links in our app description to our beta on this site.

TokenLock updated

We have updated tokenlock in such a way as to avoid the dreaded black screen of no return… but as a result you may see tokenlock pressing enter and then entering your password - this is unavoidable, but makes the solution in general much more reliable.
