The OSX Project:
Lets get OSX/MacOS working with High End Digital Audio Players!

Android uses the MTP protocol to allow you to get access to files on the device, or the connected storage cards.

MTP stands for Media Transfer Protocol. When Android uses this protocol, it appears to a PC running Windows as a media device. It does not appear at all on OSX.

The media transfer protocol was widely promoted as a standardized protocol for transferring audio files to digital music players using Windows Media Player and similar applications. It was designed to allow other media player companies to compete with Appleā€™s iPod and iTunes.

But... as a result its NOT supported natively on OSX/MacOS and in a lot of cases manufacturers dont even bother testing with OSX.

The usual suspect recommended by manufacturers to transfer files is called "Android File Transfer" by Google. It's terrible and with the help of some others I am looking to vastly improve this.

Below is a zip archive of a very basic test harness the manufacturers can use to test how robust their MTP implimentation is.

This uses code from Android File Transfer for Linux which is an implimentation of MTP written to spec from the ground up. Its *way* better that the original "Android File Transfer" app from Google.

Bad Example: Astell and Kern AK300 Android 5.1.1

Good Example: Onkyo DP-X1 Android 5.1.1
